When I talk to customers about the state of our world today one thing that surfaces is the choices we can make for our health. People are waking up to the idea of what we put on our skin in the form of scents and serums are just as important as eating organically.
When I see evidence coming out in mainstream news stating the same I like to pass it on. Here is an article that puts forward that we have to be cognizant of what is in our cleaning products, because the scents in them are creating asthma, headaches and more. Please read more here: https://au.news.yahoo.com/vic/a/34572546/fragrances-can-cause-health-issues-study/#page1 LPO offers the most organic and wildcrafted path. My deepest testimonial from clients is that they could not wear perfumes for 20 - 30 years and are able to again with mine. That makes me so happy. Most perfumes that tout they are all natural and organic are far from it. To qualify legally to be organic eco cert in the EU you only have to have 85% organic ingredients. That could be why people complain they can not even wear organics because the problem is in the system that legally people are attuning to and being able to use language that is misleading. Bottom line is know your artist: your perfumer. Find out what they are using as a base, and in their compositions. As I age, I find that people love simple, and layering soliflore (single notes) can build their own unique compositions. The field of Natural Perfume has exploded in recent years with many people entering the field only to be limited by the organic palette. Perfumers who are new at their craft get feedback that the customer wants a longer sillage (length of time it lasts on the skin). My response is always to share my own personal philosophy of wanting that direct hit of the uptick emotionally from spraying a mist of beautiful floral headspace soliflore or parfums but then I like being returned to a neutral palette. I believe we can maneuver through our lives best when we have that neutral palette. Once the shift occurs you can always re-apply your scent again when YOU need or want it again. This is my philosophy that many of my customers share. I found out over the years that many nurses or health care practioners are using my scents because they do not interfere with their patients, yet they give needed emotional bouyancy to people giving intimate care to people in need. Soft Gentle Solifore Parfums evoke that barely there scent that can be layered to attain the bouquet that a bride wears, an historical garden with all your favorite flowers, or just the scent memories that help recall the past and the future for dementia, alzheimers or amnesia patients. I met a woman this weekend in our Davenport Slowcoast 1954 Airstream Store. She was trying some scents and we got to talking about these things when she told me that she studies intuition. She went on to say that when people experience amnesia they have damage in the hippocampus part of the brain and it hurts their ability to imagine both the past and the future. She went on to explain that Freud knew this and he was a big proponent of using scent for his patients. To return to my original idea of this post now, to wrap up the trajectory here: I hope that when you choose your scents for your life you will be aware of cleaning products as being disruptive hormonally, and to creating some health problems. I urge everyone to go free and clear in all their cleaning products. Go organic. Leave behind misleading labeling companies, that say they are scenting with essential oils for cleaning products. They are not. They are using molecular identicals that mask for the similar scent. They cloy and you can not shake them, then they get in to your skin, cellular system, blood, etc and you then are not free and clear. Same with Parfums, skin care, anything you put on your skin. Use organic products. I am proud to create a beautiful line that people can embrace as an alternative to the many products that are synthetics and frauding as organics. Thank you for your support of a woman owned business. I really appreciate all the love letters, notes and words of kindness coming from all our customers who really have found this the shift they need and want to embrace their health. I will be working in our SCENT GARDEN this WED on INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY. Come say hello if you are in Davenport. Thanks. xooxoxoxox Lemon Verbena is being grown in the LPO Scent Garden and as such we are now creating the Lemon Verbena Soliflore Parfum from the leaves in garden which are harvested and then tinctured in the perfume studio, filtered, and then tinctured again and again, creating the reserve aspect which is whole, beautiful. To this we add the essential oil.
From Web MD we learn the following intel about Lemon Verbena: Lemon verbena is a plant. The leaves and the flowering tops are used to make medicine. Lemon verbena is used for digestive disorders including indigestion, gas, colic, diarrhea, and constipation. It is also used for agitation, joint pain, trouble sleeping (insomnia), asthma, colds, fever, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, skin conditions, and chills. In foods and manufacturing, lemon verbena is used as an ingredient in herbal teas, as a fragrance in perfumes, and as an ingredient in alcoholic beverages. How does it work? Lemon verbena contains a substance that might kill mites and bacteria. From OrganicFacts.net we learn 9 amazing benefits of Lemon Verbena and a warning: 9 Amazing Benefits of Lemon Verbena Some of the most fascinating health benefits of lemon verbena include its ability to help with weight loss goals, protect your muscles, reduce inflammation, boost the immune system, calm the stomach, reduce fevers, soothe nerves, and clear up congestion. Lemon VerbenaAlthough lemon verbena is native to South America, it has largely become a globally accessible plant and herb due to its powerful medicinal effects and qualities as a food additive. Scientifically known as Aloysia citrodora, another common name besides lemon verbena is lemon beebrush. The plant itself is a perennial shrub that has a powerful lemony scent that intensifies when the leaves and flowers are touched or bruised. The shrub can stand 2-3 meters high and has small purple and white flowers. Its initial widespread use was as a food and flavoring additive, particularly adding leaves to poultry and fish dishes, as well as salads, dressings, jams, and various beverages. However, the traditional uses of lemon verbena as a medicinal herb have come back into fashion, especially since modern research has revealed a wealth of unique components that make this plant very important for human health. The essential oil of lemon verbena, when extracted, contains a high concentration of powerful antioxidant compounds, including verbascoside, nerol, geraniol, and citral. The most common use of lemon verbena outside of herbal pill supplementation is as an herbal tea. The leaves can be dried and then steeped for a powerful boost to many of your organ systems and metabolic processes. Now, let’s take a closer look at some of these impressive health benefits of lemon verbena. Health Benefits of Lemon VerbenaWeight Loss: While tea is often suggested for those on a diet, lemon verbena seems to be particularly effective. There are only 2 calories per serving and the rich mix of organic compounds has an effect on the body that reduces the “munchies”, thereby preventing you from snacking between meals and compromising your diet. Also, the important metabolic effects of lemon verbena tea can help to increase fat-burning by optimizing various bodily processes. Protect Your Muscles: This is one of the most unique qualities of this herb, and one that you don’t often find in simple teas. When you choose to use lemon verbena tea as an exercise supplement, research has shown that the high antioxidant potential decreases damage done to the muscles during the workout, without inhibiting your body’s development of additional muscle mass and increased stamina. This makes lemon verbena the perfect pre-workout companion! Reduce Inflammation: Arthritis and injuries can both wreak havoc on our joints and mobility. As we age, or when we get injured, it can be difficult to ever feel whole again because our joints are in constant use and rarely have time to heal properly. Lemon verbena has been directly linked with reduced joint pain and aching, and faster recovery times for joint-related injuries, primarily due (once again) to the impressive antioxidant performance of this unassuming little herb. Immune System: Oxidative stress is the formal name for our bodies “breaking down”. Oxidative stress is a result of free radical activity and presence throughout our body’s organ systems, which weakens the immune system by stretching it too thin and distracting it with cellular mutation and chronic disease. Research has connected lemon verbena supplementation with lowered oxidative stress levels and better overall health of the body, evidence by a decisive increase in white blood cells, the first line of defense for our immune system. Digestive Issues: Lemon verbena tea also has certain soothing qualities that have been traditionally relied on to relieve stomach issues and indigestion in many different cultures. This herbal preparation has anti-spasmodic qualities that help it calm the stomach and eliminate cramping and bloating, which can lead to discomfort and more serious gastrointestinal issues. Although earlier we mentioned the weight loss properties of lemon verbena tea, it also helps to regulate the appetite (which might mean stimulating it, in some cases), leading to healthy nutrient intake to optimize your metabolic processes. Reduce Fevers: In traditional South American medicine, lemon verbena was trusted as a diaphoretic, meaning that it stimulated sweating, and was therefore used to break fevers and speed healing for those suffering from inflammatory illnesses. Anxiety and Nerves: The antioxidant compounds found in lemon verbena can also have an impact on the hormonal balance in the body. While this effect isn’t dramatic, it has been known as a calming beverage and is prescribed for those with nervous afflictions or chronic stress, as it can ease the mind and calm the body. Congestion: The final beneficial attribute of lemon verbena is its expectorant properties. This means that drinking the tea can loosen up congestion in the respiratory tracts and help eliminate the phlegm and mucous in that system. Phlegm can be a breeding ground for bacteria and other pathogens to stick and grow, so drinking a tea that can help get rid of that unwanted material is definitely a good way to improve your immune system. A Final Word of Warning: Despite this generally positive portrayal of lemon verbena, some people do suffer from mild dermatitis as a mild allergic response. Also, if you suffer from kidney disease, lemon verbena’s active ingredients could potentially worsen the condition, so avoid use. Most importantly, as with any traditional solution, consult a trained medical professional before changing your health regimen or replacing a pharmaceutical drug with an herbal remedy. Libby's Response: Lemon Verbena as a PARFUM is one of my bestsellers. It is in my Herbal First Aid Kit in my purse everywhere I go, on my kitchen scent altar, and next to my computer in my studio. How I work with the scents is to roll on the palm of my hands, then molecularize into my own etheric field and hands, then I lightly and gently cover my face with my palms cupped over my nose, to inhale deeply a couple times, then dragging very lightly my hands over my face, hair, neck, caryotid, and onto forearms. I repeat as needed. Lemon Verbena is also in several of my Herb Teas. Beauty Tea, Brain Tea, Dream Tea. If you would like to purchase Soliflore Tea of Lemon Verbena we are going to have some available soon, as we harvest from the garden. We have four plants now so this season should be good for abundant Lemon Verbena. Thank you everyone. The three basics I recommend for a first aid kit are the Rose Geranium, the Lemon Verbena and the Lavendar. If you have these three with you when you travel, daily and long distance they really keep you in good stead. Have a beautiful day. XO L |
