Beltane is the cross quarter holiday between spring equinox and summer solstice. As such it is steeped with celtic cultural historical significance as being a day when agriculture was blessed for the success of the season's crops to ensure a good harvest to further feed people in the winter. This evolved from pagan times into Christianity until the ritual dissolved into spring barn dances as it does now, where a courtship occurs, and there is a beautiful dance of youth that ensures the continuation of life. I have a grounded beautiful BELTANE PARFUM that is a blonde tobacco base and gorgeous fangipani, tonka bean, orris root, and so many beautiful buttery scents, for a romantic yet grounded and rooted fertility for one's life. https://squareup.com/store/lpo-libby-patterson-organics/item/beltane-parfum?square_lead=item_embed LIMITED EDITION, VINTAGE 2013 Gestation has been 3 years, for this batch. It opens up citrus smile, comes on strong, sweet, then mellows into heart notes, and finally the tonka shimmers open the blonde tobacco base, that feels and smells like a sacred offering to the lands...where we live, play and work. Beltane is the celebration of fertility. Historically it was a ceremony that young virgins and coming of age boys became men, by hunting with a hunting hand held knife, to kill a deer with his bare hands, to insure the continued prosperity of the village. This winner was then to *lay* with the beauty queen in town and symbolically assure that the crops would have a succesful season. Beltane is May Day, and is celebrated with maypole dances, and wearing of crowns of flowers around the heads of young maidens. This is the beginning of summer in the taoist calendar. I create a BELTANE parfum each year to recognize, and honour this nature's intelligence, of the fertiity of the plant kingdom, and here are the ingredients: It's a citrus high floral with an earthy base, to ground us into the season. Top Notes: Saffron, Mimosa Concrete, Clementine, Sweet Orange Heart Notes: Frangipani, Tuberose, Carnation Base Notes: Tonka, Blonde Tobacco, Ambergris, Benzoin Accent Notes: Oppopanax, Oakmoss YES! XO Happy Beltane. |
