No man is an island, Entire of itself. Each is a piece of the continent, A part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less. As well as if a promontory were. As well as if a manor of thine own Or of thine friend's were. Each man's death diminishes me, For I am involved in mankind. Therefore, send not to know For whom the bell tolls, It tolls for thee. —John Donne These ideas apply not only to mankind's relations but also to the spring garden, filled with growing beauty. Native volunteers proliferate along with our herbal bounty of lavendars, rose geraniums and much more. The birds in our garden are so abundant and bring with them seeds as they replant with flyovers. It's been amazing. Loving it. Excited today to tincture the hyacinth flowers, plant the bulbs into the garden and continue to enjoy the rain. The garden always has a call to some work that can be done to help create beauty. This spring we are adding lavendar officianalis and some irises, hyacinths, lilies of the valley, peonies, roses, honeysuckles, passionflowers and some antique violas. So pretty nestled in and amongst our italian oreganos and marjorams. Good advice for the garden: "There are only two days a year in which nothing can be done. One is called yesterday and another tomorrow ..." Dalai Lama. Here is a link about Water. I have been making an effort to work on getting more distilled water in my life on a daily basis for my well being. I have been enjoying the results. I wanted to share a website that has some good information about water. I learned that in history the word for water *azu or asu* was a synonym for physician. I found that so interesting. Here is the link:
http://aquariusthewaterbearer.com/ I have been doing gentle infusions in distilled water of citrus fruits and fresh herbs. This week I have been juicing pink grapefruit halves and adding slices of lemongrass together. It actually was the basis for inspiration for my latest men's cologne just in time for Valentine's Day. More on that in a minute. The beauty of water infusions is that we are getting molecular support of the cleansing of the herbs. fruits at the same time that the distilled water is working to clean "Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, Life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly."
Langston Hughes Let's start with this poem. My high school class had this as a motto back in the mid seventies. :) As we open Black History Month I wanted to highlight this poem which has guided my creative life for decades. Now, on to celebrating Imbolc. Today is a day of receiving and standing in the light of the last few night's full moons, absorbing what creative energies have come and to know that we move forward now into a fresh season between now and spring equinox. In the Taoist calendar this is the first day of spring, with the equinox being the peak of spring. That is actually true for us in California as well, so I celebrate it as such. Our weather lends itself well to the garden beginning now. We had the garden weeded last week, with a robust addition of mulch on the path. Meanwhile the weeds do not stop and show us the unstoppable way of the garden. Gotta Love how these weeds keep us on our toes. I have been very busy in the perfume studio and with doing a modified cleanse over the past week which has proven so uplifting. Lightening to the core of my being: feeling the vulnerability of peeling off the fog layer of winter, naked to the core, and now emboldened by the new growth and time well spent in the perfume studio. I celebrate today by announcing that I have some new perfumes that will be launching next week at our #SLOWCOAST stores in Davenport and Pescadero for Valentine's Day Time Frame. I followed with an Angel Glow Face and Body Serum all over light effleurage massage while still in the shower under the hot water. My skin feels so nourished and happy. I recommend this easy beauty ritual for right now as the winter dry skin needs some love. Room Sprays I luxuriate daily in room sprays, and have decided to create a section on the site for these so you have access to them as well. They help shift the mood in the home, office or sacred space immediately. I work with them all the time and wanted to share that often I do not use the perfumes as personal scents, but rather as environmental scents that can clear the air and move energy to cleanse a space quickly, silently, so I can refocus my attention. Watch for some of my favorites that I added to the online store. Thank you for your support of a woman owned business. I am truly grateful to be practicing this art of well being. xo :L |
