This Holiday marks the beginning of spring. It is six weeks mark between the winter solstice and spring equinox. It is the birthing season for goats, cows and sheep. Mating season for wild turkeys and more birds. Watched some hawks mating dance today.
In the gardens we see it is a seedling season, lots of plants are already in and beginning. We're really excited about having our seasonal aphrodisiacs for scent journey this weekend. Tune UP. Come in to smell all our latest soliflore parfums, landscape parfums and reserve parfums.

In my daily drives along the ocean between my home above Big Basin/Waddell Creek Beach and my Perfume Studio in Davenport, sweeping up to Pescadero on highway one, and back down to Santa Cruz on many days here is what I am seeing in bloom now. The year comprises eight seasons each made up of 6 week segments. Our First Season: Winter Solstice (Dec 20/21) to Imbolc (Feb 1/2) -The season of transition into the Light graduated on Dec20/21 when we sprang forward to longer light in the evening. For those with herbal knowledge and wisdom it represents the time we plant the garden and get things lined up for the coming year and seasons. Here in California we are lining up seeds in trays for planting, weeding, watering beds, planting gallon containers into the garden, and harvesting. News from the Perfume Studio Private appointments, classes are available. This is a great meditative way to study the gentle art of the garden, tincturing, liquid & solid parfums and serums. Simple Beauty Rituals for the Season~ Q1 Simplifying Activity; I have decluttered over the years which echoes the same joyful simplicity. For the dresser I simply use the current favourite seasonal scents that I am working with. When they pile up I go through them, refill those I am still using a lot and move scents from earlier seasons into a shelf to be rediscovered again during a later season in the year. I keep my Scents Changing Often for the Beauty of Exciting my Olfactory Memory Center. Some Scents Go Season After Season~ I am still loving a giant bottle of Gardenia Tiare Spray as my Boudoir and Bathroom ROOM SPRAY. It is a complete and utter luxury as my mother always sent me gardenia flowers floating in giant glass floral brandy snifters as soon as I went off to college to remind me of her beautiful gardens. Other favourites now: Lilac Soliflore, Apricot Soliflore, Lavendar Soliflore, Frangipani Soliflore, Honeysuckle Soliflore. These all blend in the air well and can be layered over time. I have the LPO BEAUTY Collection of hand made face and body serums that are a simple luxury I love. I have these sitting on dresser, computer desk, in kitchen next to door, and in bathroom in shower, and on sink area. I keep these replenished, and in abundance, so wherever I am I can reach for an Angel Glow Facial Serum 10ml Roll On. In my bathroom I have a 50ml bottle of this same formulation as I slather it on my legs in shower, arms, torso, everywhere really. Twice Daily during shower or bath. IT is my go to for wellbeing, anti aging, moisturizing. I have 100ml of Anti Stress Serum and 50ml of Prana Serum. I use all of these daily in the large size after bath or shower while taking the smaller 5ml or 10ml in purse with me wherever I go. Bathroom, Bedroom Comforts~ Good organic linens, bed sheets, pillow cases, towels and vintage blankets are my own personal taste to surround myself with deep comfort. I recently bought some new in this area, and loving the simple luxury. I have the added luxury of a helper who cleans my house regularly so that the dust bunnies get handled, and all surfaces remain smooth, clear, decluttered, put away, fresh. I highly suggest new Scents for your New Year, New Decade to create a neural stimulant for brainwaves to create new experiences for you. The Rejuvenating Spring I Regime~ The practice includes~ Yoga Gentle Stretching and #BlueMind Walks along the beach. Once per season~ Organization, Decluttering on a regular basis, Donating Clothes Not being used. I like to keep the furniture moving around ever so slightly from month to month to keep my visual cues fresh, and ideas flowing. Fresh Herb cuttings from the garden for meals, h20 infusions, room fresheners and this season calendula in the pots around my shops, in gardens, in oranges and yellows to echo the bright new season. We harvest them for use in our teas and jojoba infusions that are wonderful for skin care. Grow your own: we sell small seed packs that we harvested from our own plants. They love sun, water. Enjoy. Select one of our Reserve Parfums and Herb Teas hand made small batch organic to give to your besties for Love Season. We have got all your most desired aphrodisiacs that are beautiful, sumptuous and delicious. Please plan to come for a visit to enjoy a #ScentJourney with our #ReserveParfums to inhale the beauty, to shimmer all the scent into the deep inner being of our love. xo
I love Mondays. How about you? The big weekend energies are fun for a shop keeper where you have time to connect with lots of new people. Some of these people will become friends and family with us, and some with our products/brands. The weekend warriors that escape the city for the coast are restored by a small town experience. We try to light up their beings with some joy. But Mondays? This is a time when we can go deeper on a Monday when the crowds have receded back to the city, the small town of Pescadero is lit up with adventurous souls who plan a coastal outing for lunch at Norm's, Duartes, Costanoa or on a beach somewhere on the #SlowCoast. We meet people on a Monday who wander in, perhaps they planned the trip to pick up some herbal teas, a perfume, some gifts. I really love Mondays. The pace is slower, the beaches are empty, you just really have the whole coast to yourself. Season of Solitude: Winter Solstice (Dec 20/21) to Imbolc (Feb 1/2) is when our region greens up, there are projects in the garden, we're launching new perfumes for SPRING I and energies are new. This is just a sneak peak at the beautiful parfums that I am bringing out to grace the SCENT JOURNEY Trays in the Pescadero Store this season. These are very small limited editions of scents that were created in over the past decade by master perfumer Libby Patterson. These Scents work well with deep meditation, yoga, setting intention and working with your own compass map through the seasons. As the year transitions we get to be our own best friend at softening time, creating space for reinvention, for goal setting, seed harvesting, planting and moving forward our dreams. Ask to view our Legend Pages in shop for each of the parfums we will be featuring for this Season. These scents have been aging gracefully. They are like fine wines. Better with age. We hope to see you in shop this week or weekend. Ask to sample the Reserve Parfum Scent journey. I was asked by a new mom this weekend the meaning of Prana. I simply answered "energy" but it is more of our 'life force" in sanskrit. I designed this Prana Serum with french lavendar, eucalyptus and peppermint organic essential oils in a base of jojoba oil to be applied from toes, feet, ankles, legs up towards the heart. known for its' stimulation on the circulation I love it for a few lifestyle enhancements.
-1. The best way to travel on a long flight ~ bring this serum along and apply it on toes, feet, ankles and calves up and over/behind knees: this can help prevent a blood clot while flying. -2. To get blood flowing beneath the skin, to help clear veins during/after a pregnancy. -3. To get circulation going to help prevent a head cold, keeps chi moving. (Drink lots of water too.) Best Usage Tips: I love to use a dry brush before an epsom salts bath. Use a Sisal Brush (we sell them) to dry brush from toes, over feet, ankles, soles, up over calves, thighs, then torso, always stroking towards the heart. Jump into an epsom salt bath (we love our Rose Bath Salts) and soak actively for ten minutes. I love the Prana Serum on my whole body to prevent fatigue, prior to a head cold or slow down in vitality. We love our Amazing Herbal Tea also during this time. It is all grown in our Pescadero Scent Garden: ingredients~peppermint, yarrow and hyssop. Enjoy your bathing regimes so you can get outside and be happy under the coming spring beauty. Libby |
