I have a deep following for some of my iconic parfums.
People buy them over and over again. I get it. I love them too. So, after many years, some parfums HOLD their own, and keep on giving. Dirty Sexy LOVE probably is the ONE of my parfums that has the longest love affair with my clients, and still growing. I revisited all my formulation notes this week in making a binder that lists notes, and so forth for our SLOWCOAST Stores, so staff can help customers decide what to buy. I was in our airstream store today and tried on the Dirty Sexy Love for some gent, and wow, it is still going strong 3 hrs later. Yesterday we started a powerful new cycle in LEO, and it marked my 5th anniversary of landing in Davenport, California. I am happy to say that I call this town home, and wanted to celebrate with a New Moon Parfum creation from the LPO SCENT GARDEN.
I have been watching the Helichrysum Italicum growing all season, awaiting patiently their golden hued beautiful flowers. The scent is at once spiritual and culinary, which is a luscious capture of summer decadence. To the Base of Perfumer's Organic Alcohol 190 Proof, Grape Spirits, I added, a select few flowers of Helichrysum Italicum, fresh small ripe strawberries from the garden, costmary, yarrow pink flowers, rose geranium leaves, lemon verbena, lavendar, and blue basil, marjoram flowers, and more. Will develop this as the month continues. It will be fun to see how it evolves. I will be adding some wild blackberry flowers and fruit from our garden this week, along with comfrey, and more geranium. Sweet Peas also. :) Here is what we have in stock now in our Pescadero Slowcoast location.

We are organizing the scents now on shelves that are by fragrance families. There are slowly developing typed entries featuring ingredient lists, and the perfumer intention, description to help impart nuances. We also are now having a full service station with cotton balls and fragrance scent strips to faciliate ease in selections. We are currently harvesting costmary in Davenport which will be dried and then made into sachets for lingerie drawers to scent and keep away moths, insects, and mold, mildew. If interested we should have those done in the next weeks. They will also have mints, and marjorams, perhaps some lavendars. Thanks for all your support. I am in the Pescadero store Sun, Mon, Tue if you would like to make an appointment or pop into the Slowcoast store. I am in my studio and garden in Davenport on Wednesdays. Schedule a Scent Journey and or let me know what is your favourite type of parfum. Happy to try to get a natural perfume version going. Origin and Etymology of lacustrineFrench or Italian lacustre, from Latin lacus lake. My friend Wallace J Nichols, author of "Blue Mind The Surprising Science of Being In, Near, On or Under Water Makes You Happier" posted the word lacrustine today. It inspired a scent memory from my mother and I at the edge of the lake when I was growing up, where hundreds and literally thousands of water lilies grew as I grew up. It was a completely intoxicating scent that came with less exotic edge of the lake smells of our dog Tag, a golden retriever who fished on the beach for minnows, bass, and blue gill, wading in and between the sunny algae bloom, and in the mucky depths, that the water lilies grew in. Tad Poles and Big Bullfrogs would jump around, cat tails would waft in the soft summer breezes. This is the inspiration for the new parfum. Looking forward to weaving its' magick, and many memories of lake living, which is how I grew up. Seven Springs Lake. Ohio Land.
Summers were spent at the lake cottage on a much larger lake in Michigan. This lake also had water lilies in one amazing mass in the other end of the lake. The exotic scents in a melange with fresh mown hay and grass, the fruit trees in our orchard, and the giant oaks shedding their acorns in late summer, which we could hardly avoid in the mad dash into the water. I lived in water all during my youth, we were either in the lake at home or at the summer cottage. Or at the Pool. Dad believed in always living on water. He taught me how to fish, sail, swim, build sand castles, canoe and build a dock. Notes for this LAKE PARFUM will include the scent of my father's leather sachel and gear for photography, the scent of dried water on his waders that he used for fly fishing, the smell of the canoe, the sailboat, sand, and the algae. A slight metallic scent from the fishing tackle box, and algae dried on the beach after we raked it out of the water in hot summer time when it got too thick. The mud that was sulfuric where the fish made their homes. The image of my mother with the water lily in her hand, as she often decorated our dinner table with one of these flowers. The exotic essence would grace us like a zen balance while we enjoyed highlights of our day together over the meal. Water Lily Hay Absolute Costus Rose Morrocan Chlorophyll Fir Perilla Tonka Bean Mitti Attar Ambrette Firetree Agar Musk Designing and will follow up with final ingredient list, once we see how things do develop. So excited. XO Pure Beauty Memory! Frangipani
Tuberose Nutmeg Oud Blue Tansy This is a deliciously soft wedding parfum that I created in 2010 for a beautiful couple. I am whipping up a limited edition now for a wedding here at the end of the month in the gardens. XO I am making enough so we will have some in the online store. To me it smells like the nuances of skin of your lover after making love. The memory of the lovemaking experience. It is one of my favourites. I will have this up in the online store soon. There will be a small limited edition, to celebrate the SUMMER OF LOVE 2017: 50 Years. By popular demand from my loyal clients we have a very golden beauty for any season, launching in SUMMER 2017: the Summer of Love, 50 year celebration. Vanilla Bergamot is a shimmery deep vanilla dry down that is built in a whisper of ghosted echoes from a deep soft ambery parfum. Come in and try it this weekend in our SLOWCOAST PESCADERO location. xo
Love, Libby Shibui, shibumi, or shibusa are Japanese words which refer to a particular aesthetic of simple, subtle, and unobtrusive beauty. In this extremely soft sizzle woods spice parfum which wears well on my skin over several hours dry down, It inspires an inner sense of desire, lights that fire within. I suggest this parfum is excellent to wear to get your groove back, and also in working with inner creativity.
Notes include agarwood, ambrette and several attars: mitti and khus. There is a delicious earthy floral ethereal hint that smells like warm sunshine in dry summer mountain paths dotted with honeysuckle, jasmine and roses. It's like you can smell the air, the headspace of a summer hike, inhaling the pure beauty all surrounding you. This pairs well with the rounder fruitier new parfum Wild Orchard. Layering them is divine. Also suggest my Sandalwood Powder as an anti aging skin treatment over the top of these two parfums to scent your skin before getting dressed. These are the luxuries that I enjoy. Layering scent, anti aging skin care regimes, and sipping a beautiful herbal tea, meditation, yoga, and deep renewal. For busy lifestyles the art of the scent journey brings us rejuvenation in a moment. SHIBUI reflects that soft smooth gentle beauty that feels so good at our core. At once sexy and at deep inner peace. Aligned. "Like all art, fragrance isn’t only about aesthetics. It should evoke memories, inspire dreams and stimulate emotions. Ingredients are important, as is technique, and they both contribute a great deal to making a perfume memorable and original, but it is something else – the perfumer’s own fingerprint, if you will – that lends the aura of beauty. These are stories told in aromatic molecules, and when we are able to read something in them, the experiences are especially moving."
