Holiday Parfums~2017

I have three new parfums coming out for the holiday season. These have been in development over the summer. One is called LAKE and is reminiscent of the lake I grew up on and is a continuation of #waterislife #BlueMind series of scents that

I have been inspired to create scents from our #SLOWCOAST landscape based on the ideas from the book "Blue Mind: The Surprising Science That Shows How Being Near, In, On, or Under Water Can Make You Happier, Healthier, More Connected, and Better at What You Do." WAVE PARFUM was my first foray into a walk down through the bluffs to the beach, eventually smelling the waves, the surf and then the dry down ends with a campfire on the beach scent.

LAKE is very different and harkens back to my midwest upbringing summers in Michigan and in Ohio where I swam and was in water from the moment I woke up through the days. Swimming in the lakes gave me a deep understanding of the ecology of life. When you are submerged in the water that gives life to tadpools, water lilies, algae and cat tails you enjoy a certain aroma that when activated by sunlight delights the olfactory bulb with the distinct scent of summer on the lake. Often a wet dog (our golden retriever or black lab) would wander by on the wet sandy beach hunting minnows in the shallows through the pretty green algae, creating a wafting scent, along with the waterlilies that would bloom all summer long in our cove. The deep thick silt and mud that the fish would breed in beneath the waterlilies would also have a special ambient scent to help create this inspiration for the parfum.

DEEP ALCHEMY is a 2010 creation that uses cepes and chantrelles and was created as an homage to King Arthur/Merlin mythos. The alchemy from this scent is created by the ideas from mycologist Paul Stamets who states that mycelium covers the planet and is a lace work of interconnectedness. With this in mind, there is a meditative bloom designed into this parfum to allow our natural earth grounding connection to all of the planet. More on this parfum soon.

ROUGE CROWN CHAKRA is the other HOLIDAY PARFUM that will launch this season. It is a mash up of my classical crown chakra parfum mixed with pink elements from the garden including hibiscus flowers, beet root and a little medley of roses to make it a heart centered crown chakra. This is a great spiritual blend that I created in 1992 as part of my launch for my first commercial collection. Adding the rouge elements happened in 2010 for a private collection for me, along with a few other parfums that will launch for spring season/resort season.

VIS is a parfum that one of my students created in a private session. She lives in Poland and was inspired by one of her favourites landscapes found in a neighboring country where a sun filled orchard of fig trees mixed with the landscape. She teaches yoga and is an international traveler. We worked to create this scent that is reminiscent of the sun dappled walks in between these great green fig trees. Her discernment stated that the soil smells like vanilla there. What we created is a very beautiful scent that is built upon the WILD ORCHARD foundation.
